"Active" means the trading window is open right now — leaderboards are live, P&L is being tracked, and the result is being decided in real time. Some platforms allow late registration into a running event (you join in with whatever days remain); most close registration when trading starts. Each card shows whether late entry is possible.
If you want to plan ahead instead of jumping in mid-event, see upcoming tournaments — events that haven't started yet, where registration is fully open.
Can I still join a tournament that's already active?
Sometimes. Some platforms (Bybit, OKX, certain prop firms) allow late registration up to a deadline that's set hours or days before the event ends — you join the leaderboard with however many days remain. Most championships and structured competitions close registration when trading starts. Check the registration_deadline on each card.
What's the difference between 'active' and 'upcoming'?
Active = trading window is open and leaderboards are running. Upcoming = registration is open but trading hasn't started. We surface both in /tournaments by default; this page is active-only for visitors who want to know what's running this minute.
Where do I see the live leaderboard?
We don't host live leaderboards on our site — those live on the platform running the event. Each tournament card has an 'Official announcement' link that takes you to the platform's own leaderboard page, where ranks are updated in real time.
Why is the list sorted by deadline?
Visitors landing on 'active now' usually want to know what's about to end — that's the urgency. Soonest-ending first lets you see what to act on first. The main /tournaments grid uses different priority sorting (cash-prize first, featured next, etc.).
How often is this page updated?
The active/ended status is computed live every time the page loads — so an event that ended an hour ago is already off this list. Underlying tournament data refreshes when admins approve new entries (usually multiple times per day).
