🇧🇷Brazil· Lisbon
Brazilian algo trader, Master's in Financial Engineering, won the 2017 WCTC Forex Championship using PPP, mean-reversion and momentum on Eastern European currencies.
Pareschi holds a unique line in the championship's history books: he remains the only Brazilian ever to win a World Cup Trading Championship category, taking the 2017 Forex title at +100.3%. His championship year was built on purchasing power parity models, mean reversion and momentum in Eastern European currencies, timed around Commitments of Traders data and the Trump-Mexico headlines. He entered almost reluctantly, at a friend's insistence, after realizing his 2016 results would have placed him second had he competed. He has also placed third in the stock trading division, one of the few champions with podiums in two asset classes.
His path into markets started at the poker table: he played professionally through college and funded his early trading with poker winnings. A degree in Applied Mathematics, a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from WorldQuant University and doctoral studies in Lisbon followed, along with more than two hundred trading books and a 2011 conversion to algorithmic trading he describes as an epiphany. His edge hunting runs on academic finance papers from SSRN, a habit he credits to Dr. Ernest Chan's books.
Today Pareschi teaches through Investidor de Sucesso, one of Brazil's largest trading education platforms, where his Trader Campeão and Carteira Campeã programs have enrolled over a thousand students. Through his company Cornerstone Investments he has produced dozens of articles and over ninety videos for ActivTrades, making him a central figure in the Brazilian championship-trader education economy.
