Heidi Chakos is one of the longest-running educators in cryptocurrency, best known as the face of the YouTube channel Crypto Tips. She first encountered Bitcoin in 2014 and in 2016 launched Crypto Tips with her husband Toby, building it into a go-to beginner resource with a couple hundred thousand subscribers and later expanding into the education platform Learning Crypto.

Chakos built her reputation on independence and skepticism rather than hype. In October 2022, weeks before the collapse, she published a video arguing that Sam Bankman-Fried and FTX looked fraudulent, one of the more prescient public calls of that cycle. She has leaned fully into the crypto ethos of self-sovereignty, publicly renouncing her US citizenship and adopting a location-independent, nomadic lifestyle now based in Portugal. As one of the few prominent female educators in the space, her angle is calm, first-principles teaching aimed at newcomers.
