Joe Takayama is one of the most institutionally credentialed crypto KOLs in the Japanese-speaking market. His CV includes USC Marshall School of Business, an investment banking role at Citi covering M&A, and a hedge-fund trading seat at Morgan Stanley — credentials that are uncommon in retail-facing crypto content and that anchor his on-camera authority. He started trading crypto in 2016, launched his YouTube channel on April 18, 2021 with the goal of making cryptocurrency accessible to Japanese beginners, and grew it into what third-party references call Japan's largest crypto YouTube channel.

He is based in Dubai (UAE), which is consistent with the Backpack global business development role he currently holds, and operates as an angel investor and advisor across the crypto industry. He is a recurring speaker at WebX Asia, a major Tokyo Web3 conference, which gives him standing in both the Japanese on-the-ground community and the international circuit. His content is primarily in Japanese, but he is bilingual and engages in English on X.

For trading-tournaments.com the value here is multi-dimensional: Japan is a notoriously hard market to reach, Joe is one of the few credible bilingual bridges, and his Backpack affiliation gives him direct line-of-sight into competitive trading infrastructure. He has the rare KOL profile where a tournament feature could plausibly become a co-marketing conversation rather than a one-off mention.
